Rice Global E&C Forum goes live with optimized web site

HOUSTON – The Rice Global Engineering & Construction Forum has re-launched its web site at www.forum.rice.edu, instituting a series of upgrades designed to improve accessibility and optimize the site’s visibility to internet search engines.

Early this year, the Forum’s board of directors tasked our marketing committee with evaluating the effectiveness of our internet web site’s support of our mission, which is to be the premier venue for discussion of critical issues affecting the future of the global E & C industry, said Martin Van Sickels, the Forum’s executive director. It became clear pretty quickly that new tools were available that could increase our visibility on the internet, but we also concluded a makeover was necessary from the platform software up if we hoped to remain a viable organization in the future.

We’ve made progress toward achieving that goal with the re-launch of our web site and further upgrades will be implemented in the coming months.

Forum directors selected Rice University’s information technology department to carry out the upgrade. The IT department completed the task within budget, on a timeline that allows the new web site to support registration for the Forum’s 14th annual conference. Forum XIV, Strategic Vision for a Brand New World, occurs Oct. 4 in the auditorium of the new BioScience Research Collaborative (BRC) Building on the campus of Rice University.
