Topic:

“LNG Storage Solutions, a Key Consideration and Element in LNG Terminal Operation”

According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), in their Annual Energy Outlook 2015, the United States expects to be a net natural gas exporter by 2017. In anticipation of this projected growth in natural gas exports, various potential LNG production, storage and export terminals are under consideration in North America. Those facilities mainly under consideration are the conversion of existing LNG import and regasification terminals to bi-directional LNG terminals, and new grass roots LNG production, storage and export facilities.

LNG storage is a key part of the overall terminal’s operating philosophy and requires special attention in the design of the terminal that must not be overlooked. This presentation will provide a high level introduction and overview of the different types of containment systems for small and large scale LNG land-based and marine-based storage applications as offered by IHI E&C.  We will look briefly at key associated equipment, safety, regulatory, capital cost and schedule considerations that drive the implementation of a successful LNG terminal solution.
