Eric Namtvedt will present which are the ‘the drivers that drive us’ to arrive at optimum designs for Floating Production Systems (FPS); recognizing that what eventually becomes the FPS (…being round, square, semi, spar, tlp or what-ever) is a function of providing cost-effective, installable and operationally safe ‘real-estate’ for the multiple loads, weights and space requirements (the drivers) present for a given location and functional requirement.

Over 30 years of experience in the international oil & gas industry, worldwide, working with a major oil company, a national government body, and several global E&C contractors.
His background has taken him though most aspects of the E&P business cycles, from project cost control, finance and accounting, management of joint interest partnerships and negotiations with host governments, establishment fabrication yards and technology service companies, to diplomatic assignments as oil & gas commercial counselor, and director of business development and sales, and to being project manager of large engineering teams.
Most notably Eric has led the establishment of FloaTEC, the deepwater Joint Venture between Keppel and McDermott, becoming a world-class floating production system company, successful in securing deepwater FEED and EPCI contracts in excess of US$ 1 billion within the first 5 years of operation.
Eric is a Norwegian citizen, who since 2001 has been living in Houston, Texas with his wife Camilla. They have three grown children. Having spent most of his career engaged in the oil business around the world, Eric is fluent in English, French and his native language Norwegian.
Location & Parking:
Grand Hall in the Rice Ley Student Center Detailed campus maps are available on the web at http://www.rice.edu/maps/. Use the Find A Building web search feature on the left of the page to locate the Ley Student Center on the map. The Central Campus Garage is the closest parking facility. It is located to the left of the Ley Student Center across the street.
Rice University is a popular meeting location. In the remote possibly the underground parking is full, the second closest parking is the West Lot. Continue down the Laboratory Loop Road to the stop sign. Cross the street and the gate will be on the left. Be sure to bring an umbrella if the weather seems inclement.
The campus also offers a bus shuttle that runs about every 15 minutes as it loops the campus. Look for the bus stop signs to use or enjoy a short brisk walk!
Registration:
$25 per person – a boxed lunch will be served. At the time of registration, you will asked to indicate your meal choice of SANDWICH or SALAD or VEGETARIAN meal. We are unable to honor requests beyond these 3 options. Sammy’s is next door if you desire or need an alternative meal. PLEASE HONOR YOUR MEAL SELECTION WHICH WILL BE NOTED ON YOUR NAMETAG. $ 0 for Rice Students – registration required in advance.
