KBR receives inaugural excellence award from Rice Global E&C Forum

HOUSTON – The IMPACT program of Houston-based KBR (NYSE: KBR) was presented with the Rice Global Engineering & Construction Forum’s initial Award of Excellence, in a ceremony at Rice University’s faculty club during the banquet opening the organization’s 14th annual conference.

KBR’s IMPACT program has enhanced the professional skills and opportunities for advancement of hundreds of E&C professionals through career development counseling and mentoring relationships, and has implemented employee networking strategies that have enhanced KBR’s company culture, said E&C Forum board president Michael Coffey of Foster Wheeler, who presented the award. In addition to improving teamwork and project management skills, IMPACT encourages participants to develop leadership skills and to seek out and take on roles and responsibilities that benefit the communities in which they live and work.

As a member of the board of advisors for KBR’s IMPACT Group, I am proud to accept the inaugural Rice Global E&C Forum Award of Excellence on behalf of the more the 1,400 IMPACT members worldwide, said Leonard Schaider, Advisor, KBR Houston IMPACT chapter who stood-in for IMPACT executive sponsor David Zimmerman, Group President, KBR Services, at the presentation ceremony. For the past 10 years, IMPACT has provided our young professionals opportunities for leadership development, mentoring, community service, and participation in company initiatives. KBR is humbled to be recognized and commended by a group of our E&C peers and competitors.

KBR’s Global IMPACT program is an executive-sponsored group of KBR employees with less than 7 years of experience in the EPC industry. IMPACT is a global group with 13 chapters worldwide consisting of over 1,400 members. The mission of this group is to create an employee network to foster career and personal development of professionals within KBR by encouraging community service, promoting social interaction both within KBR and externally, and enhancing company culture.

ABOUT the AWARD of EXCELLENCE: Beginning this year, the Award of Excellence will be presented annually by the Rice Global E&C Forum to acknowledge an individual, group, or organization for a notable business improvement or development; unique technical solution or innovation; project execution excellence; global growth; and/or young engineer’s programs. A nomination must be submitted by an E&C Forum board member to the group’s Executive Committee, which selects the top three candidates for recommendation to the Board of Directors for selection of the winner.
