Annual Rice Global Forum for Engineering & Construction

2008 Engineering Week Student Competition Sponsor by Rice Global E&C Forum Fluor Corporation George R. Brown School of Engineering - Rice University Over 100 students participated in the Forum’s second annual Engineers Week Competition. The problem, supplied by Fluor Corporation, involved launching a ping pong ball into a paper cup from a specified distance using only materials provided. Prizes were awarded by a point system involving use of materials, accuracy, and design. The lively competition was followed by pizza and soft drinks which were thoroughly enjoyed by competitors and judges alike. Ten judges from companies sponsoring the Forum participated in the event. Dr. Ahmad J. Durrani had the role of announcer and commentator for the competition and kept things running smoothly, albeit noisily at times. First, Second and Third Prizes were awarded for total points, as well as prizes for Most Creative, Most Innovative, and Most Artistic. Our Winners are:
