Ahmad Durrani - Professor, Rice University

Ahmad Durrani is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University. He was chair of the Civil Engineering Department at Rice from 1995 to 2001 and Associate Dean of Engineering from 2001 to 2003. Prior to joining Rice he worked in the E & C industry in engineering design for five years and taught at the University of Science, Penang, Malaysia for three years. His academic interests are in the areas of urban infrastructure renewal, engineering economics and management, and seismic hazards mitigation. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan and MBA from the University of Houston. He is a member of ASCE, ACI and several other professional societies. He has served on several review and blue ribbon panels of the National Science Foundation and is active in several national level technical committees.
